by Andy Miller

Traveling across Texas
in a Hudson,
one looks up to
the skyway and down
for stars; deer graze
on windswept grasses
whose roots
are constellations

Dean shifts gears,
turns inward;
his girl in the back-
seat dozing
dreams of Little Bear.
