frail
muslin moon
delicate and opaque
against the sharp-edged
blue of midday
skimming across the sky’s surface
the thin membrane
that
separates us
from emptiness
virgin moon
forever distant
from an importunate earth
tacking across our skies
with obsessive determination
deviating not an inch outside its ellipse
watchful
ruthlessly
inviolate
unmoved
